Life In Plastic

I recently met a man who wanted to eliminate Barbie.

My first thought was "Seriously?!"

We talked about it for a while and I can kinda see his point.

But I'll probably still buy them for my little girls.

I got a raincheck for one at Target that was only $3 a few weeks ago. Pretty nifty huh?! Plan on buying a couple-for my future little girly(s) and quite possibly to keep around for b day gifts.

I AGREE. Barbie puts an unreachable image of what women should be... boobie, pencil thin, & 6'5''(not to mention silent & weak.) Studies show that less than 3% of women even come close to this stereotype & that insecurities stem from not reaching this ideal. Cudos to your friend & I wish there were kids' dolls that were in style and fair. And we wonder why porn is so rampant... Ok, I'm exaggerating a bit, but I plan to keep these out of my kids' toy rooms... when I get a girl.

C'mon Barbie has been an astronaut, lawyer, cowgirl, doctor, ect...Barbie might be a little thin but I guarantee you that what is considered "healthy" today is borderline overweight in most doctor's offices. The ban Barbie movement is filled with people with good intentions that I agree with and then with a larger segment of feminists who want an execuse to eat bon bons..oh what Snap :)

p.s. if you don't see me at church it is because my wife murdered me :)
